I live and teach in the beautiful town of Manzanares el Real, just north of the city of Madrid. I enjoy the peaceful life of this small town, located at the base of La Pedriza, a natural park with lots of hiking trails, while also being a short ride away from the bustling city of Madrid.
I teach in a bilingual primary school in the town, working mostly with first and second grade, with a dash of sixth grade twice a week. The school, CEIP Virgen de de la Peña Sacra, is quite large, with four buildings for the infantil and primary education spanning from 3 years to 6th grade. I spend most of my time in the first grade building, as I see all four classes at least three times a week each.
The school is part of the bilingual program in Spain, meaning the students learn other subjects in English besides foreign language. I sometimes assist in science classes and the students also learn art and physical education in English.
